TEDxBrussels 2012 – Monday, November 12th 2012 at Bozar 9AM – 7PM.

This year, the theme of TEDxBrussels is Bits, Atoms, Neurons and Genes (or BANG BANG as we’re calling it). BANG BANG represents the combination between an evolving mesh of ideas and practices, and a rich mixture of citizens, scientists and culture. The annual event covers subjects such as innovative technology, development, sustainability and the environment – so there’s something for everyone.

TEDxBrussels brings world-class speakers to the heart of Europe to perform in front of a very lively audience.  To coincide with this phenomenon, over 1800 “TEDsters” migrate to Brussels every year, answering some deep seeded need to push the frontiers of knowledge. If you haven’t experienced the mind-boggling phenomena, we encourage you to try it – you won’t be the same.

To get a snap-shot of this years event, here are some speakers from the preliminary list that we managed to get our hands on:

Steve Wozniak is a pioneer of the digital age, he was one of the three founders of Apple Computer, setting up in Steve Jobs’ garage in 1976. Woz, as he is almost universally known, designed the hardware, circuit boards and operating system for the Apple I.

Peter Gabriel is a musician, human rights activist and early digital music pioneer. He is an arch-collaborator and has worked with Scorsese, Bowie, Radiohead, U2, Randy Newman and Joni Mitchell among many many others.

Dr. Yvonne Cagle is a NASA Astronaut and Family Physician. Dr. Cagle’s groundbreaking work is preserving historic NASA space legacy data while, simultaneously, galvanizing NASA’s lead in global mapping, sustainable energies, green initiatives and disaster preparedness.

Xavier Damman is the founder of Storify, an internet start up company that helps people curate their social media stream into coherent narratives.

Peter Jansen is a maker and a research scientist. He’s also worked in astrophysics, Computational Linguistics and … making stuff such as the Open Source Medical Tricorder.

Cathy Hogan is a research scientist and medical engineer at MIT. With her team, she’s come up with a needle-less injection technology that could change injections forever.

Eri Gentry is a founder of Bio Curious, a garage biology movement and meetup group pushing the boundaries of how bio-science is done, where it takes place and most importantly who does it.
